February is here and the time of love is coming. Mama duck and Papa duck are celebrating and as you see them like this you could call them two lovebirds, quite literally. After all what other birds if not ducks should be called lovebirds.
Just think about it for a minute. Think about these wonderful and friendly creatures. They are filled with unimaginable joy and love that they spread to the world around them. This reflects in one quote from a great writer and poet Dorothy L. Slayer who in her book Gaudy Night wrote: „How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of duck.“
So why do people consider doves the symbol of love? I honestly don’t understand it and am wholeheartedly convinced that the place belongs to ducks. Just look up some pictures of ducks and some pictures of doves. Which picture is cuter, which brings out more joy in you. And what is love about if not joy? Isn’t it about the connection to someone that makes you happy only by seeing them? I think that is exactly the effect that ducks can bring to you. Why don’t we make them the new birds of love then? Well, there’s no reason not to do it. So this year when thinking of a present to give to your loved ones maybe try thinking outside the box and get them a pretty little rubber duck.
